Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has a packed schedule of high-level engagements and bilateral meetings at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York this week. Here’s a look at the key events on his agenda:

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, Vucic will participate in the Summit of the Future, where world leaders are set to adopt the “Pact for the Future,” a landmark document addressing global cooperation on emerging challenges.

Vucic is slated to address the UNGA during the 2nd plenary session of the Future Summit, where he will present Serbia’s views on international security and cooperation.

On Tuesday, September 24, Vucic will deliver a keynote speech at the UN General Assembly, focusing on global security, Serbia’s foreign policy, and the role of multilateral diplomacy in resolving both regional and global crises.

Throughout the week, Vucic will hold numerous bilateral meetings including Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Miroslav Lajčák, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Additionally, Vucic will attend an informal lunch for Western Balkan leaders hosted by Josep Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

In response to the rapid development of artificial intelligence, Vucic will also join a High-Level Meeting on international AI cooperation, co-hosted by China and Zambia.

Serbia’s presence at UNGA will culminate in a reception at the UN Headquarters, hosted by Serbia’s UN Mission to promote the country’s vision for EXPO 2027. Vucic will highlight Serbia’s scientific innovations and advancements, showcasing the nation’s contributions to the global stage.
