Following his speech, Biden will meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres to discuss ongoing collaboration between the U.S. and the UN in advancing global peace, safeguarding human rights, and supporting sustainable development.
In the afternoon, the President will host a summit of the Global Coalition, a forum he launched in June 2023 to mobilize international action against the synthetic drug crisis. The coalition, which now includes 158 countries and 15 international organizations, has focused efforts on preventing the illicit manufacturing and trafficking of synthetic drugs, detecting emerging drug threats, and promoting effective public health interventions.
Later, Biden will deliver a significant address stressing the urgent need to combat climate change.
