As the 2024 presidential race nears its climax, Pennsylvania emerges once more as the ultimate electoral battleground. With 19 of the nation’s 538 electoral votes up for grabs, the Keystone State isn’t just any swing state—it’s the state where victory could pave a direct path to the White House. It’s the campaign trail’s most coveted prize, and both sides know that to win here could mean winning it all.

Winning Pennsylvania means more than just adding electoral votes; it translates to momentum and a psychological edge. Indeed, candidates who claim Pennsylvania have had more than a 90% chance of becoming President. That’s why both campaigns are pulling out all the stops in the final days.

In 2020, Pennsylvania tipped the scales for Joe Biden, but this time around, the numbers suggest a dead heat. With just days to go, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are locked at 48% each, according to a New York Times/Siena poll of likely voters released Sunday, with a margin of error of 3.5 points. This reflects a tightening of the race from Harris’ narrow three-point lead in a previous New York Times/Philadelphia Inquirer/Siena College poll from October 12.

The stakes are clear: If Harris can hold onto Pennsylvania and pick up just one more Rust Belt state, it could leave Trump scrambling to make up ground in other battlegrounds. The math is unforgiving and historically significant. Over the past eight presidential elections, the candidate who has carried Pennsylvania has also claimed Michigan and Wisconsin, together forming the so-called “blue wall” crucial to Democratic victories.

Harris’ camp is gearing up for an Election Night spectacle that doubles as a star-studded call to action. Lady Gaga is set to take the stage in Pennsylvania, alongside a lineup of celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Ricky Martin, Jazmine Sullivan, The Roots, DJ Cassidy, Fat Joe, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Adam Blackstone. The hope? To inspire and energize voters in a state where every vote will count and every moment matters.

“It’s time to get ready to vote — I’ll see you guys in Pennsylvania,” Gaga said in a video on her Instagram account.

On the other side, Trump is playing his cards with a focus on rallying his base. Events like the recent assassination attempt in Butler, could potentially play to his advantage.

Speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania on Sunday, Trump drew attention to the bulletproof glass protecting him on stage. 

“I have a piece of glass over here, and I don’t have a piece of glass there. And I have this piece of glass here, but all we have really over here is the fake news,” Trump said, pointing at the area press was stationed at the rally. “And to get me somebody would have to shoot through the fake news. And I don’t mind that so much. I don’t mind that.”

The remark ignited swift backlash, with critics condemning Trump’s rhetoric as dangerous.

As Pennsylvania prepares for its turn in the national spotlight, both campaigns know this: It’s the ultimate prom queen of 2024, and everyone is vying for the crown.
