President Biden spoke by phone with President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday, congratulating him on his election victory and committing to a smooth transition of power. The president emphasized the importance of national unity and expressed his hopes for cooperation in the months ahead.
Biden also extended an invitation for Trump to meet with him at the White House, with their staff set to coordinate a specific date for the visit in the near future.
In addition, Biden had a separate call with Vice President Kamala Harris, offering his congratulations on her historic campaign and acknowledging her continued role in shaping the country’s future.
Biden is expected to address the nation Wednesday to discuss the election results and outline the transition process.
