Not too long ago, Ron DeSantis was hailed as a potential Republican replacement for Donald Trump. The Governor of Florida announced his withdrawal from the race on Sunday, throwing his support behind his opponent, Trump.
Just ahead of the New Hampshire primary, DeSantis conveyed in a video message that he sees no clear path to victory.
“It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” said DeSantis. This endorsment delivered another setback to Nikki Haley, with DeSantis characterizing her as a proxy for “warmed-over corporatism.”
Trump campaign said in a statement that they were “honored’ by endorsement.
“It is now time for all Republicans to rally behind President Trump to defeat Crooked Joe Biden and end his disastrous presidency,” the statement continued.
“Nikki Haley is the candidate of the globalists and Democrats who will do everything to stop the America First movement. From higher taxes, to decimating Social Security and Medicare, and to open borders, she represents the views of Democrats more than the views of Republicans. It’s time to choose wisely.”
