New York City’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) application is now open, a program where 14 to 24 year olds can get six weeks of paid work experience in a variety of relevant fields. The employment program will require participants to work 25 hours per week and they will be paid $16 per hour.
The SYEP is the nation’s largest youth employment program, where participants can receive the opportunity to explore their interests and career pathways. This program will assist in developing workplace skills and engage participants in learning experiences that help to develop their social, civic and leadership skills ensuring better preparedness in NYC youth’s careers in the future.
The SYP offers participants to develop their research skills and discover new career possibilities, to learn valuable skills in order to become an active citizen at work and in their communities, and an opportunity to be paid for the work.
The youth can get a chance to work thought the five boroughs, at a variety of organizations.
In order to apply to this program you must be between the ages of 14 to 24, be a resident of one of the five boroughs of New York City, and you must be legally allowed to work in New York City. Participates will be chosen via a random lottery to ensure fairness.
