Secretary of State Antony Blinken is gearing up for a busy week at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 79 from September 23 to 27, where he’ll focus on critical global issues.

Top Priorities: Blinken is set to deliver remarks at the UN Summit of the Future and participate in a high-level Security Council briefing on Ukraine. He aims to spotlight Russia’s actions as a blatant violation of the UN Charter and a direct threat to international order.

Combatting the Drug Crisis: He’ll also convene with the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats, a group he established last year to tackle the fentanyl crisis by disrupting illicit supply chains.

Diplomatic Engagements: In addition to these high-profile events, Blinken will hold crucial meetings with UN officials and international counterparts. His discussions will focus on advancing U.S. interests, addressing ongoing conflicts, revitalizing humanitarian efforts, and pushing for a more inclusive global governance framework.
