Good Morning DC,
NATO and the US seem to be determined not to let Putin win the war in Ukraine. The Pavlovic Today was at the State Department yesterday for a joint press conference held by Secretary Blinken and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
Secretary Blinken And Stoltenberg Assert NATO Will Supply Ukraine With Weapons It Needs To “Retake Territory”
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is in Washington, DC. At a Wednesday’s press conference with […]
The message Blinken and the NATO chief conveyed was that Putin’s victory would be “a tragedy” for Ukraine.
“It will send a clear message not just to Putin but also to other authoritarian regimes that when they use force, they can achieve their goals. That will make the world more dangerous, and all of us more vulnerable,” said Stoltenberg.
Peace talks, from the NATO-US point of view, won’t happen until 1) Russia withdraws troops or 2) Ukraine retakes its territory.
As Blinken pointed out, Putin’s position is that no peace talks will take place until Ukraine accepts new territorial realities.
It looks like an impasse to me, and with modern fighter jets not ruled out as a part of increased military support to Ukraine in the coming weeks, the next big unknown is how Russia will respond.

The US is not the only country that was part of China’s spying program, according to Secretary Blinken. China has been conducting surveillance across five continents.

Countries across five continents have also had surveillance balloons overfly their territory, which is why we’re sharing this information with others,” said Blinken.
