Prime Minister Liz Truss is attending today’s first-ever meeting of a new political club of European nations, the European Political Community. More than 40 countries are attending the summit in Prague, a brainchild of French President Emmanuel Macron.

On today’s agenda, the leaders will talk about the war in Ukraine and the Nord Stream sabotage. The members of the new political club will address urgent shared challenges, a growing concern about energy security and supply in Europe this winter.

At the international summit, Truss will seek to reassert the UK’s role in Europe.According to No 10, Liz Truss will hold talks on securing UK energy supply, migration, and energy diversification.
In her speech, the Prime Minister is expected to say that “We must continue to stand firm – to ensure that Ukraine wins this war, but also to deal with the strategic challenges that it has exposed.”
While today’s meeting may offer an opportunity for a reset in post-Brexit relations with Europe, Truss made it clear that the new political club is separate from the EU.
Liz Truss and Emmanuel Macron will hold a bilateral meeting.
