Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries responded to the today’s  assassination attack on former President Donald Trump, who was targeted by gunfire while speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania.

“My thoughts and prayers are with former President Trump,” Jeffries shared on X, expressing gratitude for the swift and decisive response by law enforcement.

“America is a democracy,” Jeffries emphasized. “Political violence of any kind is never acceptable.”

The Vice President, Kamala Harris, and President Biden have received an initial briefing on the attempt on the life of former President Trump.

Senator Schumer said he is “horrified by what happened at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania and relieved that former President Trump is safe.” Echoing Jeffries, he added, “Political violence has no place in our country.”
