Robin Wright, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Diane Kruger are among the women in film who will share their experiences and viewpoints during the Women in Motion Talks series at the Cannes film festival.

Women in Motion, launched in 2015 by Kering, showcases the contribution of women to the film industry, whether in front or behind the camera. These intimate, but super exclusive, by invitation only talks make an integral part of the Festival’s official program, and this year, talks will be launched on Thursday, 18 May 2017 by the first Talk with actress, producer and director Robin Wright.
on Friday, 19 May 2017 actress Isabelle Huppert will give a talk, which will be moderated by Isabelle Giordano of UniFrance, partner of Women in Motion.
On Sunday, 21 May, Women in Motion will welcome actor Yang Yang.
On Tuesday, 23 May, actress, director, and producer Salma Hayek Pinault, and filmmaker Costa Gavras will participate in a Talk organized by the Kering Foundation, which combats violence against women and fights for their rights.
Actress Diane Kruger will take part in Women in Motion’s Talk on Wednesday, 24 May 2017.
In just two years, the Women in Motion Talks have become a key event at the Cannes film festival.
Last year, Jodie Foster opened the first Women in Motion talk, in which over 30 world-renowned figures took part during the fortnight.
Talking about the problems women face, Foster said: “Believe me, there are lots of scripts with wonderful roles written for women, which will never make it onto the screen because the question is: who is going to fund and direct them?”
The purpose of the Women in Motion Talks is to raise questions about the under-representation of women in film and emphasize the need to create more movies not only directed by women but also created by women.
With this new season of fabulous talks at Cannes Film Festival, Kering continues to promote the cause of women in film and help them amplify their voice.
