On July 10, against the backdrop of the NATO Summit in Washington DC, President Joe Biden will host the newly elected UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House for a bilateral meeting.
“President Biden looks forward to his first meeting with Prime Minister Starmer and will underscore the importance of continuing to strengthen the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom,” said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
The discussions between Starmer and Biden will cover a wide range of topics, including US-UK cooperation on support for Ukraine, promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific, negotiating a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza, ensuring Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon, and bolstering the coalition to address Iranian-backed Houthi threats to commercial shipping.
Additionally, the leaders will focus on furthering bilateral cooperation in protecting advanced technologies and developing climate and clean energy solutions.
