The White House demands an end to the conflict in Yemen through political negotiations.
Trump Administration announced today their support for humanitarian aid to the people of Yemen who are currently enduring severe deprivation.
The United States welcomes an announcement from Saudi Arabia and the Saudi-led coalition regarding reopening of the Hudaydah port and Sanaa International Airport to allow the urgent flow of humanitarian aid to thousands of starving people of Yemen.
Previously, the UN leaders appealed for an immediate lifting of the humanitarian blockade in Yemen. In a joint statement on November 16, the heads of Unicef, World Food Programme and the World Health Organisation warned that “more than 20 million people, including over 11 million children, are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. At least 14.8 million are without basic healthcare and an outbreak of cholera has resulted in more than 900,000 suspected cases.”
The first step to ensure supply of food, medicine, and fuel to Yemen
The White House made it clear that full and immediate implementation of the announced measures is just a first step in ensuring that food, medicine, and fuel reach the Yemeni people. With that, the aid organizations who are trying to mitigate this humanitarian crisis will be able to do their work and help relieve the already catastrophic situation.
The White House made a statement that it looks forward to additional steps that will facilitate the flow of humanitarian and commercial goods from all ports of entry.
“The magnitude of suffering in Yemen requires all parties to this conflict to focus on assistance to those in need. All sides must support a political process with facilitating humanitarian relief as the top priority, ” the Press Secretary stated on the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
The White House reiterated the US committment to supporting Saudi Arabia and all our Gulf partners against the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ aggression and “blatant violations of international law.”

According to the White House, the Houthi rebels, backed by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, have used destabilizing missile systems to target Saudi Arabia—systems that were not present in Yemen before the conflict.
The United States called on the international community to take the necessary steps to “hold the Iranian regime accountable for its repeated violations of United Nations Security Council Resolutions 2216 (adopted in 2015) and UN resolution 2231 as the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps exploits the grave humanitarian crisis in Yemen to advance its regional ambitions.”
Millions of Yemenis are currently enduring severe deprivation. An acute malnutrition is threatening the lives of almost 400,000 children.
