North Macedonia’s Prime Minister, Dimitar Kovacevski, and US Special Envoy and Coordinator for the Global Engagement Center, James Rubin, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate in the fight against the manipulation of information.

The signing took place on May 8, 2023, after a meeting with ecretary Blinken.

The MOU comes after meetings held in Skopje on April 11, 2023, between the Government of North Macedonia and the Department of State.

Both sides expressed their concerns about Russia and other actors using disinformation to undermine democracy and national security worldwide.

The MOU, according to the State Department aims to promote closer cooperation between the two NATO allies in combating misinformation and disinformation, protecting democratic processes, and building resilient information ecosystems.
