Good afternoon from Ankara, where Air Force One was wheels down at Etimesgut Air Base at 1:51 p.m. local time.

There were no visitors to the press cabin during the flight. Journalists got a mostly restful overnight aboard the new Air Force One, with the lights dimmed and the brown leather press-cabin seats converting — after some trial and error with the controls — into a lie-flat position. The cabin was lit by the soft blue glow of the in-flight tracker and individual TV screens, including Fox News.

Shortly after departure, journalists were served an Americana-themed mini-dinner: a miniature hot dog, a slider with a tiny pickle, and two red, white and blue cake-pop bites, presented on a small butcher-block-style board bearing the presidential seal. Breakfast followed the same “all-American” theme, with eggs and chives, pancakes with cinnamon butter, and a cherry parfait.
