President Donald Trump escalated his feud with Elon Musk on Tuesday, issuing a series of veiled threats that included invoking “DOGE” — his so-called Department of Government Efficiency — and suggesting the possibility of deportation.

Trump said Musk, once seen as an ally, is “upset that he’s losing his EV mandate.” The remark came after Musk publicly criticized Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” warning that if the legislation passes, the “America Party” would be formed as an alternative to both Democrats and Republicans.

“He’s very upset about things. But he could lose a lot more than that. I can tell you right now, Elon can lose a lot more than that,” Trump said.

Trump also appeared to raise the possibility of deporting the billionaire, despite Musk being a U.S. citizen and facing no criminal charges.

“I dunno, we’ll have to take a look. We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible?” Trump said.

He went on to criticize Musk’s companies and their reliance on federal subsidies.

“He gets a lot of subsidies. But Elon’s very upset that the EV mandate is going to be terminated,” Trump said.

Trump also dismissed the need for electric vehicles, saying, “And you know what? When you look at it, not everybody wants an electric car. I don’t want an electric car. I want to have maybe gasoline, maybe electric, maybe a hybrid, maybe someday a hydrogen.”

Returning to the subject of hydrogen-powered vehicles, Trump added: “You have a hydrogen car. It has one problem if it blows up. So I’m going to give that one to Peter. Let Peter test it up — hydrogen. And when they blow up, it’s serious. They find you five blocks away.”
