Trump makes comments in response to the leaked diplomatic cables written by the UK Ambassador Kim Darroch.
After the news broke about the leaked diplomatic cables written by ambassador Kim Darroch where he warns the Foreign Office of “uniquely dysfunctional” White House, POTUS said he is not a fan of Ambassador Darroch.
“The ambassador has not served the U.K. well,” Trump said on Sunday afternoon during an impromptu gaggle with the WH traveling pool. Later, he added, “we’re not big fans of that man.”
The diplomatic cables were leaked to and first published by the Daily Mail. Ambassador Darroch warned in the cables that President Trump’s career could end in “disgrace” and he also shared his critical observations about the U.S. policy toward Iran. According to Daily Mail, the UK ambassador also shared his concerns that he doesn’t think the Trump’s White House will “ever look competent”.
This leak comes in the middle of the leadership contest in the UK that is soon to decide the next Prime Minister. The timing of the leak may be seen as an attempt to sway the leadership contest in Jeremy Hunt’s favor since the Head of the Civil Service, Sir Mark Sedwill, is seen as the future US ambassador if Boris Johnson becomes the next leader of the Conservatives.
Nigel Farage has called for Ambassador’s immediate resignation.
