President Trump shares his surprise about Biden’s decision to choose Kamala Harris as his VP pick “ because she did so poorly in the primary” and was “probably nastier than even Pocahontas to Joe Biden.”
Today, the President began his press briefing by slamming the “radical left” with regard to ongoing protests in New York City, Portland, Chicago, and Seattle.
Trump went on to urge the officials in those cities to utilize all resources necessary to “end the violence and all the injury and death.” He specifically named New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, calling for him to “immediately hire back all of the police who were fired, without justification.”
Trump On Kamala Harris: “She Was My Number One Pick”
Asked to comment on Joe Biden’s pick for Vice President, Senator Kamala Harris, the President said, “She did very, very poorly in the primaries, as you know. She was expected to do well, and she was — she ended up at right around 2 percent, and spent a lot of money. She had a lot of things happening. And so I was a little surprised that he picked her. I’ve been watching her for a long time, and I was a little surprised.”
To further comment on his surprise, he stated, “she was probably nastier than even Pocahontas to Joe Biden. She was very disrespectful to Joe Biden. And it’s hard to pick somebody that’s that disrespectful. When she said things during the debates — during the Democrat primary debates — that were horrible about Sleepy Joe. And I would think that he wouldn’t have picked.,” in reference to comments Harris made during the presidential primaries.
Trump continued to heavily criticize the California Senator, stating, “I thought she was the meanest, most horrible, most disrespectful of anybody in the U.S. Senate.” He also brought up Harris’ treatment of Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing, stating, “the way she treated now Justice Kavanaugh… I won’t forget that soon.”
The President listed characteristics of Harris that he does not agree with, saying,“she’s very big on raising taxes, she wants to slash funds for our military… she is against fracking… she’s in favor of socialized medicine.”
Trump Does Not Believe COVID-19 Is A Concern For College Football Players
The President mentioned his desire for college football to resume this season, despite coronavirus concerns. “We want to get football in colleges. These [players] are young, strong people. They won’t have a big problem with the China virus,” the President noted. His hopeful tone for resuming the sport comes as the Big Ten, a major football conference, cancelled its fall season today due to COVID-19.
With no specific evidence to back his claim, Trump praised college football players for being strong able to fight off the virus. “Hopefully it [coronavirus] won’t bother them one bit. Most of them will never get it, statistically,” he added.
