Tuesday’s January 6 hearing came as a surprise. Cassidy Hutchinson, a special assistant to Mark Meadows, gave explosive testimony.

She told the world that on January 6, 2021, Trump wanted to go to the US Capitol but that the Secret Service assessed that it was unsafe for him to go there.

Hutchinson said that Trump then lunged in rage toward the steering wheel of the Beast, causing an altercation with an agent.

“I’m the ‘effing’ president, take me up to the Capitol now!” , Trump screamed according to Hutchinson. She said that this story was told to her by Meadows’ deputy shortly after it happened.

This is explosive stuff. If Cassidy is making this up, they will need to say that. If she isn’t they will have to corroborate. I know her. I don’t think she is lying,” said Mick Mulvaney on Twitter.

Journalist Peter Alexander said that both Bobby Engel, the lead Secret Service agent and the driver of the presidential limousine, say that Hutchinson’s story was not true and that they are willing to testify under oath.

“A source close to the Secret Service tells me both Bobby Engel, the lead agent, and the presidential limousine/SUV driver are prepared to testify under oath that neither man was assaulted and that Mr. Trump never lunged for the steering wheel,” Peter posted on Twitter.

Reacting to Cassidy Hutchinson’s explosive testimony, former President Trump said that she “made up phony and completely outrageous stories, the craziest of which has already been proven to be a complete lie.”
