Daily Download on PEOTUS: Today, President-elect Donald J. Trump will be announcing General James Mattis for Secretary of Defense.
Today, Trump will be announcing the appointment of a Retired Gen. James Mattis as Defense Secretary. At Bedminster a few weeks ago, Trump referred to Mattis as “a great man”. The formal announcement for appointing a Former commander of the United States Central Command from August will be formally made tonight at Fayetteville, during the Thank You Tour.
As far as the schedule, President-elect will be holding meetings throughout the day. First meeting he is having with Rex Wayne Tillerson, CEO of Exxon-Mobil and he is also scheduled to meet with Terry Branstad, Governor of Iowa. After the full day of high profile meetings, President-elect will be departing for North Carolina.
On Wednesday, the president Elect will be in New York at transition fundraising breakfast and after that, he will be meeting with Pat McCrory, the Governor of North Carolina. On Thursday, there will be a rally in Iowa. On Friday, the rally will be held in Michigan at 7 pm. On Saturday, President-Elect will be attending an Army-Navy football game in Baltimore. Keeping with the tradition, half game President-elect will be spending at the navy’s side and the other half on the army’s side.

According to officials from Trump’s team, the transition is going smoothly with over 80 meetings being held so far. The Daily Signal did an analysis of Cabinet nominations dating back 40 years showing that President-elect Donald Trump is assembling the cabinet faster than George H.W. Bush, who was a sitting Vice President at the time of his election.
However, the decision for the Secretary of State has not been made yet. President-elect is considering several candidates and according to transition sources, he is conducting a thorough process to ensure that he is making the right choice. The President-elect is looking for someone who shares the same vision, could make good deals and represent America properly in a diplomatic arena.

Relevant news of the day is Trump’s tweet on Air Force One which reads: “Boeing is building a brand new 747 Force One for future presidents, but the costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order!”
The point President-elect Donald J. Trump tried to put across was that the price tag of $4 billion is a very big number and that after the inauguration in January 2017, he will be looking into this for more details, all in alignment with his plan to reduce the government spending of taxpayers money.
Finally, the Spokesman Jason Miller has confirmed that Flynn Jr was only helping his father Lt. Gen Flynn with administration and scheduling duties, but he is no longer involved in transition efforts.
