At 10 am Thursday morning in the UK, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee four days of celebration will kick off.
The first event of the day? The formal pageantry of the Trooping of the Color.
The color will be trooped by the 1st Battalion, Irish Guards, and more than 1200 officers and soldiers from the Household Division will display military pageantry on Horse Guards Parade, together with hundreds of Army members, musicians and around 240 horses.
This annual event has now marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years. The Queen is the first Monarch in British history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
“I continue to be inspired by the goodwill shown to me, and hope that the coming days will provide an opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved during the last seventy years,” the Queen said in her message marking the start of the celebrations.
