At 12:55 EST, POTUS motorcade arrived in Beauregard to meet with survivors of the storms. See below for information on the families POTUS will meet.
The motorcade passed severely damaged homes and fallen trees. We passed whole neighborhoods that were destroyed. At one empty spot where a home appeared to have been was now only broken pieces of metal, wood and what appeared to be scattered clothes.
There were many onlookers along the route with their phones out taking photos/video of the motorcade. A group of school children was also outside waving at the motorcade. There were several groups of onlookers along the drive. One couple sat in a pickup truck parked in a driveway waving a large American flag.
The motorcade passed one big group standing in front of a large sign attached to a fence that #BeauregardStrong. Another sign reads: “Welcome President Trump”.
The White House’s Lindsay Walters shared the following additional details about Trump’s visit:
President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are meeting with individuals impacted by the recent tornadoes in Opelika, Alabama (part of Lee County, AL). Kathy Carson, Director of the Lee County Emergency Management Agency, will brief the President and First Lady as they hear from survivors in the Beauregard neighborhood.
