Republican Senator Mitt Romney expressed opposition to the House GOP’s impeachment vote during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press this morning.
“I don’t see any evidence,” Romney declared, challenging the House Republicans’ decision to proceed with the vote. He underscored the lack of proof for high crimes and misdemeanors.
“Before you begin an impeachment inquiry you ought to have some evidence, some inclination that there’s been wrongdoing, and so far there’s nothing of that nature that has been provided,” Romney said.
Responding to Welker’s question about his stance on the impeachment inquiry against President Biden, Romney shared his perspective.
“Well if I were in the House I’d vote against it, unless they were able to bring forward evidence that suggests that there were a high crime or misdemeanor that had been committed, but so far that hasn’t been the case.”
House Republicans are scheduled to cast their votes on Tuesday to formally authorize their impeachment inquiry, aiming to strengthen the legal foundation of the ongoing probe.
At the focus of the impeachment inquiry is Hunter Biden, the son of the President. Romney however maintains the stance that “We are not responsible for the misdeeds of our kids and grandkids and great grandkids.”
Romney further elaborated, stating, “We’re not gonna impeach someone because of the sins of their kids.”
