Department of State confirmed on Monday evening that UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly would be visiting DC on Tuesday, January 17.

The purpose of the visit is to urge the US to ramp up their support for Ukraine. “The UK, US and Canada always have each other’s backs when it counts,” Cleverly said in a statement.

Cleverly and Blinken met in September last year in NYC where the US Secretary talked about the importance of continued close US-UK cooperation to hold Russia accountable.

After DC, Cleverly will travel to Toronto to meet with Canada’s Melanie Joly.
