Ambassadors from the Quint countries are in a meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti amid the violence that erupted in Banjska, near Zvečan in northern Kosovo.
Kosovo police reported that at 2:34 AM last night, a rapid intervention unit of the border police observed two unregistered trucks positioned on a bridge at the entrance of the village of Banjska, effectively blocking access to the village. Upon the arrival of units from the Zvečan station, they encountered resistance, resulting in the shooting of two police officers, one of whom succumbed to the injuries.
EU High Representative Josep Borrell has strongly condemned the attack on Kosovo Police officers. Borrell has called for a thorough investigation to establish the facts surrounding the incident and stressed the importance of holding the responsible perpetrators accountable.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić is scheduled to address the public in a press conference at 8 PM local time today, where he is expected to provide insight into the incidents that unfolded in northern Kosovo.
