The White House has confirmed that President Donald Trump is “monitoring” developments following a deadly shooting at Antioch High School in Nashville on Wednesday morning.
“As details unfold, the White House offers its heartfelt thoughts and prayers to those impacted by this senseless tragedy and thank the brave first responders responding to the incident,” the White House said.
A female student was killed, and another was wounded when a male shooter opened fire in the school cafeteria at 11:09 a.m., according to Metro Nashville Police spokesman Don Aaron. The shooter, identified as a 17-year-old armed with a pistol, later took his own life.
The Metro Nashville Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident. Further details about the victims and the shooter have yet to be released.
