President Biden Briefed on Latest Earthquake Developments, Engages in Discussion with New Jersey Gov. Murphy.
President Biden spoke with New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy about this morning’s earthquake. Biden said his Administration is in touch with state and local officials and will provide assistance if needed. The White House, according to the press office, ” continues to monitor this situation.”
A 4.8-magnitude earthquake rattled areas west of Manhattan, its epicenter situated in central New Jersey, triggering tremors felt across New York City. The last quake of similar magnitude struck in 2011.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed earlier that President Joe Biden has been briefed on the latest developments regarding the earthquake.
