Bellingcat, an investigative website, and The New York Times have identified Jack Teixeira as a person of interest in the recent leaks of classified Pentagon intelligence, according to reports. The media outlets reported tracking profiles on other sites linked to Teixeira.
Teixeira was a “cyber transport systems specialist” responsible for military communications networks, including cabling and hubs, and would have had a higher level of security clearance due to his role in ensuring network protection. He was arrested by the FBI on Thursday evening. A local TV station captured video footage of him being led away in handcuffs.
The Washington Post reported that “OG” informed fellow members that the documents were obtained from a “military base” where he occasionally worked in a secure facility that prohibited electronic devices such as mobile phones.
Further raising suspicions that Teixeira was involved, the New York Times stated that details of the interior of his childhood home, as seen in family photographs posted on social media, matched details found in the margins of some of the photographs of the leaked secret documents.

Journalistic Overreach: How The New York Times, Bellingcat, And WaPo Have Become The State’s Lapdogs
When journalists try to take on the role of law enforcement, they not only blur boundaries but also harm the struggling journalism industry. The New York Times, Bellingcat, and WaPo went to great lengths to uncover the identity of Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old Air National Guardsman who leaked US intelligence documents via an online gaming…
Keep readingUS President Joe Biden sought to downplay the impact of the breach, stating that while he was not concerned about the leak, he was concerned that it happened. However, The New York Times has reported seeing about 300 of the leaked documents, indicating that the national security damage could be more severe than initially thought.
On Friday, the 21-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear in court after FBI agents detained him at his home in North Dighton, Massachusetts. Helicopter news footage showed Teixeira, wearing an olive-green T-shirt and red shorts, being escorted by FBI agents with rifles pointed at him as he walked backward.
Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder has condemned the leak as a “deliberate, criminal act” and stated that measures have been taken to review distribution lists and limit access to classified information. Teixeira is believed to have posted about guns, games, and racist memes on the social media platform Discord for years.

Trump Changes Course Again
There will be no “end of Iran”—at least not now—despite the sweeping rhetoric from Donald Trump earlier in the day.
