Good Morning DC,

The high-stakes game of political finance is heating up as the race to the Oval Office gains momentum. While whispers of a cash crunch surround the Trump campaign, the Republican billionaires are swooping in to save the day.

Hedge fund billionaire John Paulson is slated to host an extravagant fundraiser for Donald Trump in the sunny state of Florida on April 6, 2024.

Let’s get you caught up with the news of the day.

President Biden is on the road today. In the morning, he will embark on a tour of the Intel Ocotillo Campus in Phoenix, Arizona. The President will announce a preliminary agreement with Intel for a CHIPS and Science Act award. Funding catalyzes $100 billion in private investment from Intel to construct and expand semiconductor facilities in Arizona, Ohio, New Mexico, and Oregon, with the potential to create nearly 30,000 jobs.

Following his time in Arizona, he will travel to Dallas, Texas for campaign events.

President Joe Biden attended a campaign event yesterday at El Portal, a Mexican restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona. The event marked the beginning of an initiative aimed at engaging Latino voters, titled “Latinos con Biden Harris.” Julie Chávez Rodríguez was the first speaker, introducing the effort to connect with Latino voters.

“Latinos proved in 2020 what we are capable of in Arizona and in so many critical states throughout this country, and we sent Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House the first time, and we’re gonna do it again in 2024,” she said.

Luis Reyes, a junior at Arizona State University, introduced the President. He addressed the fear instilled in the Latino community in Arizona and shared that his mother was an immigrant while his brother was a DACA recipient. Reyes urged Latinos to unite in re-electing President Biden.

“You’re the reason why in large part I beat Donald Trump,” Biden said, met with cheers from the crowd. “I need you badly.”

He highlighted Latino members of his administration, including Secretary Xavier Becerra and Secretary Miguel Cardona. Biden also referred to Trump’s comments about Latino community immigrants, stating, “he only cares about the wealthy.”

Donald Trump voted in a primary ballot for himself in Florida, with Melania Trump standing beside him, hinting at potentially taking on a more active role in the election. “Stay tuned,” she said.

Tony Bobulinski is set to testify today before the House Oversight Committee in a hearing titled “Influence Peddling: Examining Joe Biden’s Abuse of Public Office.” Despite being invited, Hunter Biden and Devon Archer will not attend the hearing.

Speaker Johnson has issued a statement regarding Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations, confirming that “An agreement has been reached for DHS appropriations, which will allow completion of the FY24 appropriations process.” Johnson stated that the House and Senate committees have commenced drafting bill text to be prepared for release and consideration by the full House and Senate “as soon as possible.”

Secretary of State Antony Blinken has stated that Gaza’s two million people are facing “severe levels of acute food insecurity.”

The US State Department emphasized that it won’t hesitate to “call out those responsible for the erosion of Hong Kong’s promised autonomy.” Patel further elaborated, stating that “when we see things like this happen, we won’t hesitate to not only use our voice but, should the circumstances require it, utilize other actions that the United States has at its disposal.”

In the UK, inflation has dropped to 3.4% in the year leading up to February, marking the lowest level in nearly two and a half years.
