THE WHITE HOUSE
Yesterday, Biden has signed an executive order ending federal funding for conversion therapy for transgender youth.
Today, Biden will sign the Ocean Shipping Reform Act, passed on a bipartisan basis.
“In the President’s State of the Union address, he called on Congress to address ocean carriers’ high prices and unfair practices because rising ocean shipping costs which are a major contributing factor to increased costs for American families. During the pandemic, ocean carriers increased their prices by as much as 1,000%. And, too often, these ocean carriers are refusing to take American exports back to Asia, leaving with empty containers instead. That’s costing farmers and ranchers—and our economy—a lot of money,” a White House official told The Pavlovic Today.
Kamala Harris will focus today on maternal health by expanding postpartum coverage.
FOREIGN AFFAIRS
President Macron said that, at some point, Ukraine’s President would have to negotiate with Russia.
John Kirby, newly appointed National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, gave a response to Macron from the White House podium.
We’ll let other foreign leaders speak for themselves and — and for their countries and for their national interests. I think that’s appropriate.
But nothing has changed about President Biden’s view here is that nothing about Ukraine is without Ukraine and that Ukraine is a sovereign country. President Zelenskyy is the democratically elected leader of that country, and he gets to determine how this war ends. He gets to determine how he defines victory and how he gets at that outcome.
