Former President Trump’s mug shot was taken inside a jail in downtown Atlanta on Thursday, marking a historic moment as he becomes the first US president to undergo this procedure. Trump, 77, was processed under the identification of inmate P01135809 at Fulton County jail. Presenting a total of 13 charges, he was booked on Thursday afternoon local time. The formalities included capturing his photograph, obtaining his fingerprints, and inputting his personal information. He was subsequently released on $200,000 bond.

This event cements Trump’s status as the first former US leader to face indictment. Prior to his departure to New Jersey, Trump addressed the media, stating, “It is a very sad day for America.” Within his statement, he also levied allegations of “election interference” against his political adversaries.

“Never surrender!” declared Trump in a post on X, the first one he made since Jan. 8, 2021,

In his own words, Trump vehemently asserted, “What has taken place here is a travesty of justice. We did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong and everybody knows that. I’ve never had such support.”

In a fundraising email distributed to supporters, Trump asserted that “This mugshot will forever go down in history as a symbol of America’s defiance of tyranny.”

The mugshot of his former personal lawyer Giuliani was also taken earlier this week.
