House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is set to hold a pivotal vote this afternoon regarding the motion to vacate his position. As reported by Punchbowl News first, the House is scheduled to begin its voting proceedings at approximately 1 PM.

There are two possible scenarios on the table: either the House will directly vote on the motion to remove McCarthy from his leadership role, or McCarthy’s supporters may attempt to table the motion. Tabling the motion would effectively quash the effort to oust him as the House’s Speaker.

Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz has introduced a motion aimed at dethroning Kevin McCarthy from his position as House Speaker.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
