The former Chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng, revealed in his tell-all interview for TalkTV how he warned his friend PM Liz Truss to “slow down” after her mini budget triggered turmoil in the financial markets.

Kwarteng shared that he told Truss that she would be “mad” to fire him. “This is mad. Prime ministers don’t get rid of chancellors,” Kwasi told her.

Kwasi Kwarteng’s revelations suggest that former PM Truss was primarily responsible for all decision-making that crashed the British economy. Truss did not listen to anyone as she proceeded with her radical plan.

“We were going very fast. Even after the mini-budget, we were going at breakneck speed. And I said, you know, ‘We should slow down, slow down.” she said, ‘I’ve only got two years.’ and I said, ‘You’ll have two months if you carry on like this,’ and that’s, I’m afraid, what happened.”
