Russia said Wednesday it will not decide on a U.S.-proposed 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine until it receives more details directly from Washington.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov urged caution, telling Russian news outlet RIA Novosti: “Look, you are getting a little ahead of yourself, we don’t want to do that.”
Moscow is reviewing statements following U.S.-Ukraine talks but says it needs direct communication from American officials before making any decisions.
“Yesterday, when talking to the press, both Rubio and Waltz said that they would pass on to us detailed information about the essence of the conversations that took place in Jeddah through various diplomatic channels. First, we need to get that information,” Peskov said.
He confirmed that contacts between Russian and U.S. officials are expected in the coming days but said Washington has not yet requested a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump.
“Such a call can be organized very quickly if needed,” he added.
This is a developing story. Updates to follow.
