Vice President Kamala Harris said Thursday night’s CNN presidential debate “is going to frame the race” during a Biden Victory Fund fundraiser in California. The event was hosted at the Bradbury home of Dr. Asif Mahmood. Bradbury, a small city at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles County, has about 1,000 residents.
The importance of Thursday night’s presidential debate is not lost on anyone in Biden’s team.
Trump’s campaign announced two new television ads titled “Promises” and “Who’s Laughing Now” to air during the CNN debate in key battleground states and Washington, DC. Trump is attacking Biden on two main components: financial aspects for Americans and safety. The first ad asks: Are you financially better off since he became president? Are you and your family safer since he became president? Is our country more secure since he became president?
The other ad ” Who is Laughing Now” mocks Biden’s physical fitness, questioning his ability to climb stairs and find his way off the stage.
The Biden campaign also has a line of attack ahead of tonight’s debate. On Thursday morning, they launched a website outlining what they describe as Trump’s “extremist” Project 2025 agenda.
“Project 2025 spells it out: If Donald Trump wins a second term, he’ll do everything he can to rip away Americans’ freedoms, undermine our democracy, and amass power for himself while weaponizing the government to get revenge on his opponents,” said Sarafina Chitika , Biden campaign spokesperson.
Vice President Kamala Harris said at the Biden Victory Fund fundraiser that during tonight’s debate, Americans will be able to see a clear contrast between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Harris stated that Biden spends his time thinking about the American people and how to uplift them, mentioning efforts to reduce costs, create jobs, and build the middle class.
“On the other hand you have the former president who cares only about himself,” Harris said.
Vice President Kamala Harris said Trump calls himself a “fighter,” but he fights for himself and is seeking the presidency for personal gain.
“We’re also going to see on that debate stage a Donald Trump who we know has always been unburdened by truth,” Harris said. “That’s not a burden he carries, to tell the truth.”
She highlighted the urgency of the coming months by pointing out that election day is 132 days away.
“In this election, we will determine what kind of country we want and we will make a statement about who we are as a country,” Harris said.
You can watch the first presidential debate on CNN.com and USA TODAY’s YouTube channel on Thursday, June 27, starting at 9 pm ET.
