James Biden will appear for a transcribed interview at the Oversight Committee on February 21, 2024. The committee announced on X, on Wednesday that they “look forward to his testimony.”
The interview is likely to focus on two loans President Biden made to his brother, as well as other business deals James Biden secured.
James Biden’s interview is scheduled a week before Hunter Biden’s, the son of President Biden, following subpoenas issued by the committee.
James Biden’s lawyer, Paul Fishman, argued against the subpoena, saying the committee had already reviewed private bank records and transactions between the brothers. The committee found records of two loans made when Joe Biden was not in office or a candidate for president.
Fishman said, there is nothing more to those transactions, and there is nothing wrong with them” and that “And Jim Biden has never involved his brother in his business dealings.”
Republicans say their evidence paints a troubling picture of “influence peddling” by Biden’s family in their business dealings, particularly with international clients.
