What was Ivanka Trump doing today at Walmart?
Passing along from the White House:
Ivanka Trump’s Workforce Development Visit to Walmart:
Today, Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump visited Walmart store #789 in Mesquite, Texas, and participated in a hands-on tour and roundtable discussion with Walmart Academy students and facilitators to learn more about the company’s programs to skill and reskill workers in Texas.
The Walmart Academy, which is dedicated to workforce development, curriculum provides focused training for associates, both hourly and salaried, through classroom and on-the-sales-floor exercises and tailored integration of technology. This Academy supports 32 stores in the Dallas, TX area. Approximately 3,000 associates have been trained at the Mesquite Academy since it opened in September 2017.
Ivanka Trump visited the center to reinforce the Administration’s efforts to ensuring America’s workers are equipped with the skills they need to succeed in the modern economy, and to amplify the private sector’s commitment to this mission.
On July 19, Julie Murphy (Executive Vice President, People – Walmart U.S.) attended the President’s National Council for the American Worker Executive Order signing at the White House. Walmart signed The Pledge to America’s Workers, committing to create 1 million enhanced career opportunities.
