Good Morning DC! This Monday morning, Congress is back in session and everyone is still talking about the GOP fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida, where former president Trump called Mitch McConnel a “dumb son of a bitch”.
Our Republican source who was present at the fundraiser told Good Morning DC that Trump’s speech was a “dumpster fire on steroids.”
According to the Republican insider, “we were looking for a way forward, and all Trump wanted to do was talk about the past.” The source added, “Quite frankly, we want to move on.”
In CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday, Liz Cheney said that allegations against Matt Gaetz were “sickening,” but unlike Adam Kinzinger, she did not call on Gaetz to resign.”There’s an ethics investigation underway. There are also criminal investigations underway. And I’m not going to comment further on that publicly right now,” Cheney added.
Across the pond, all major news outlets over the weekend had wall-to-wall coverage on Prince Phillip’s passing. This morning, the U.K. is walking up to a celebratory moment of the BAFTA awards. Movie The Father has won two awards. Anthony Hopkins won for the Leading Actor, and the other BAFTA went to the adapted screenplay.
