Good Morning DC! It’s Tuesday and the whole world is still reacting to the Royal Family fallout.
Across the pond, today’s covers of the leading British newspapers all agree that the Royal Family is facing the biggest crisis in modern history.
Daily Mirror said that Palace is in meltdown over racism allegations and the claim that the Duchess’s suicidal thoughts were ignored. Will the Queen break with tradition and go on record to respond to allegations? The pressure mounts, but iNews reported that according to a poll, half disliked the interview.
Daily Mail writes about the Royal Family’s shock and sadness over the attack Harry made on Oprah. They ask the couple: “What have they done?”
“Harry is blowing up his family,” Zac Goldsmith said on Twitter. “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.”
President Biden took Meghan’s side, praising her “courage.” Psaki had some words of her own, as well. “Meghan Markle is a private citizen and so is Harry at this point. For anyone to come forward and speak about their own struggles with mental health and tell their own personal story — that takes courage, and that’s certainly something the President believes. And he’s talked the importance of, you know, investing in a lot of these areas that they’re committed to in the future as well,” she said with a caveat that, “we have a strong and abiding relationship with the British people and a special partnership with the government of the United Kingdom on a range of issues, and that will continue.”
Last night, Trump sent a memo that he is endorsing Senator John Boozman of Arkansas. “He is tough on crime, strong on the Border, a great supporter of our Military and our Vets, and fights for our farmers every day. He supports our Second Amendment and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” said the former president.
Fully vaccinated Americans no longer need to take safety precautions when gathering with other vaccinated people, according to new CDC guidelines released yesterday.
According to the released CDC guidance, fully vaccinated individuals can also visit a household of low-risk, unvaccinated individuals without masks or social distancing. However, if vaccinated individuals are visiting multiple unvaccinated households or high-risk unvaccinated individuals, the CDC recommends masks and socially distancing.
The U.S. has identified three online publications directed by Russia’s intelligence services aimed at undermining the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Psaki said that they are aware of it and “will look for ways to combat disinformation.”
At the State Department, the Biden administration announced that anyone rejected for the U.S. visa but were rejected under former President Trump’s so-called, “Muslim-ban,” can now reapply. President Biden first haunted the immigration policy during his first day in office.
The U.S. is considering boycotting the 2022 Olympics in China after a public outcry over reports of genocide committed by the government against the Uyghurs in Xinjian.
“The PRC also has committed crimes against humanity in Xinjiang against the Uyghurs who, of course, are predominantly Muslim, and members of other ethnic and religious minority groups, and that includes imprisonment, torture, and forced sterilization and persecution,” Ned Price said during the State Department press conference. “These atrocities, we have made the point, shock the conscience. They can’t be ignored, and they must be met with serious consequences.”

At 1:30 PM EST, Press Secretary Jen Psaki and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council Bharat Ramamurti will brief the press.
