Good Morning DC. “Our society is totally nuts,” says Dr. Fauci.

Good Morning DC!

Fauci’s emails are the most important news this morning, but aside from satisfying voyeurist urges, the whole throve does not say anything we have not known already. Fauci corresponded with Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg. He changed his mind about the mask-wearing, at one instance noted that American society is nuts, had some positive words for hydroxychloroquine, and revealed that he is not thrilled about Dr. Fauci’s swag. But, he stayed on message: “You can trust CDC,” he said in one of his emails.

This morning Biden said that “We’re witnessing an all-out assault on our democracy — and we need to act swiftly to protect the sacred right to vote.” The President says that America needs For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Now.

Today is the infrastructure D-day for President Biden. Or just another infrastructure meeting at the Oval Office. The White House confirmed, “The President is looking forward to hosting Senator Capito on Wednesday afternoon at the White House, where they will continue their bipartisan negotiations about “investing in our middle class and economic growth through infrastructure.”

Monday was the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, in which hundreds of Black Americans were killed in riots and violence incited by white people in 1921 Tulsa, OK. The President gave a speech in remembrance of those lost and to condemn the racially charged actions which occurred on this day. Biden paid his respects and acknowledged the sorrows of the day, along with saying, “The Federal Government must reckon with and acknowledge the role that it has played in stripping wealth and opportunity from Black communities.”

Meat producer JBS was hit by a ransomware attack from a criminal organization likely based in Russia. Deputy Press Secretary Jean-Pierre said the White House is dealing directly with the issue, and the FBI is investigating the attack. She added that the USDA has reached out to other meat producers to handle the situation. The White House asserts that combating ransomware is a priority.

Across the pond, zero Covid-19 deaths were reported in Britain, giving hope to the people just in time for the summer holidays.

FDA has a list of 225  hand sanitizers consumers should not use, given that some have been recalled. Here you can find their step-by-step search guide to find out if your product is on the list.
