The First Lady’s cultural event with Mrs. Akie Abe will be a visit to a digital art museum in Odaiba Pallete Town.

Kon’nichiwa,

I am your pooler this morning for the first lady’s cultural event with Mrs. Akie Abe. The leaders’ wives are visiting a digital art museum in Odaiba Pallete Town. They’ll tour the teamLab Borderless exhibit this morning. FLOTUS is expected to arrive the next several minutes.

Here’s a comprehensive look at the museum, care of the British Council.

Pool will be on three legs of FLOTUS’s tour. The first two rooms are very dark, the third room she will interact with children. I’ll attempt to take photos and distribute them after via Dropbox.

The first lady’s office sends along the following information on background:

On Sunday morning, May 26, Mrs. Trump will accompany Mrs. Abe, the spouse of Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, on a tour of the teamLab Borderless exhibit at the MORI Building Digital Art Museum in Tokyo.  Mrs. Trump is the first United States First Lady to visit the colorful and interactive museum. She will be greeted by Mrs. Abe, Yoshiko Mori, Chairperson of Mori Art Museum, and Michiho Kishi, Head of Art and Cultural Business Promotion at the Mori Arts Center & teamLab Exhibit Tour Guide. The tour will include stops into several of the exhibits – including a flower room, waterfall room, crystal room, cave room, lamp room, wave room and landscape exhibit– each made up of light shows and interactive demonstrations.  The tour will end at a digital aquarium where children will participate in drawing sea animals and scanning them into a computer that projects them onto the walls. Mrs. Trump and Mrs. Abe will be met by Mrs. Hagerty, spouse of the Ambassador to Japan, and Mrs. Sugiyama, spouse of the Japanese Ambassador to the United States, in the aquarium and join the children in designing sea creature creations.  Before departing the museum, the four spouses will meet for tea in the Tea House exhibit.

Participants:

  • The First Lady of the United States
  • Mrs. Akie Abe, Spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan
  • Mr. Michiho Kishi, Head of Art and Cultural Business Promotion, Mori Arts Center & teamLab Exhibit Tour Guide

I’ve also pulled a description of the immersive experience from the museum’s website for your convenience:

“Wander, explore, discover in one borderless world

teamLab Borderless is a world of artworks without boundaries, a museum without a map created by art collective teamLab.

teamLab Borderless is a group of artworks that form one borderless world. Artworks move out of rooms, communicate with other works, influence, and sometimes intermingle with each other with no boundaries.

Immerse your body in borderless art in this vast, complex, three-dimensional 10,000 square meter world. Wander, explore with intention, discover, and create a new world with others.”
