Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has escalated his criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accusing Kyiv of rampant corruption and suggesting that Ukraine’s leadership is profiting from the war at the expense of its soldiers.
Musk labeled the Ukrainian government a “fraud machine feeding off the dead bodies of soldiers.” His remarks came after Zelenskyy publicly criticized former President Donald Trump, accusing him of living in a “disinformation bubble.” Trump fired back, calling Zelenskyy a “dictator” who failed to call elections after his mandate officially expired.
Musk also weighed in on Ukraine’s delayed elections due to the war, saying Zelenskyy is not holding a vote because “he knows he would lose in a landslide.”
Musk said “President Trump is right to ignore him and solve for peace independent of the disgusting, massive graft machine feeding off the dead bodies of Ukrainian soldiers.”
Musk’s remarks highlight the shifting stance of Trump’s circle toward Zelenskyy. His comments suggest that Trump and his people do not view Zelenskyy favorably—a sentiment that could influence future U.S. policy toward Ukraine.
With repeated calls from both Trump and Musk for elections in Ukraine, it appears that a second Trump administration would prefer different leadership in Kyiv, a factor that could shape peace negotiations and U.S. engagement in the war.
