Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders

White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders told The Pavlovic Today that “the President takes leaks of classified information seriously,”  in an off-camera briefing Thursday afternoon.

The testimony of former FBI director James Comey in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee made two striking points. First, that the president was not under the investigation and second, that both President and Comey shared the concern about the leakage of the classified information.

Given the acknowledged presence of leaking of classified information, the puzzling question is how was it not leaked that President Trump was not under investigation, along with the rest of the leaked information in the past few months?

When the whistleblowers want to get the information out, they leak everything.  In the case of President Trump, however, the individuals doing the leaking seem selective as to what they leak.  In other words, there is an impression that there is a selective leakage going on with information that primarily aims to discredit the President.

The Pavlovic Today had several questions for White House Deputy Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders.  What explains the “selective leakage”?  What is the view of the Trump administration as to who is doing the leaking of classified information and will there be any investigation regarding such leaking?

“I will not comment on the specifics of the hearing but I will comment on the leaks. Obviously, the President takes this very seriously, and we will expect anyone caught in leaks—especially in a manner that puts national security at risk—should they be caught in an investigation or found guilty, that should be punished by the force of law.”  This was how the Deputy Press Secretary concluded her answer to The Pavlovic’s question.
