Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries responded to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report showing a gain of 187,000 nonfarm payroll employment positions in July with a positive outlook on the American economy.

“Today’s jobs report is further proof that the American economy is healthy and resilient. Wages are rising, and the unemployment rate remains at a historic low. Over 13 million jobs have been created during President Biden’s first term, and under the leadership of the Biden-Harris administration, Democrats are strengthening the economy and growing our nation’s middle class,” said Jeffries.

However, Jeffries also expressed concern over the actions of extreme MAGA Republicans and their potential impact on the economy.

“Unfortunately, extreme MAGA Republicans are determined to destabilize the economy, undo this progress, and march towards a government shutdown in order to dictate extreme ransom demands and jam their right-wing ideology down the throats of the American people. Democrats are going to continue to focus on what matters – delivering for working families and building an economy from the middle out and the bottom up, not the top down,” he added.
