Confessions of the Financier
Confessions of the Financier: You complete repetitive transactions which will define your net worth, but you are unable to shake off the recurring thought that your actions have no significant value in shaping your character.

Confessions of the Financier: If you decide to jump into rough water and find yourself immersed in a murky tide, what would you do? Would you choose to swim alongside the current, or would you force yourself to go against the crashing waves?

As you leave the financial industry, you wave goodbye to the generous paychecks that flow into your bank account at the close of each month. You abandon the predictable lifestyle, habitually waking up in darkness only to drag your dead soul into an artificially illuminated, grey space. You produce an immense amount of presentation material that will inevitably be trashed the following day.

There is no end to the meaningless calls where the obvious is stated with authority and the unknown is predicted with certainty. You complete repetitive transactions which will define your net worth, but you are unable to shake the recurring thought that your actions have no significant value in shaping your character.

The expensive restaurants, the jewels, the luxury holidays and business class flight “cover the silence.” Eventually that silence becomes louder than the most unbearable noise and you eventually “QUIT,” causing a sensation similar to a soul departing from the body. The feeling of disorientation, the absence of a clear project, the lack of meaning hitting you with a brutality which could well be lethal.

Around you, you find no sympathy and only siren calls trying to suck you back into the system. Your anger becomes so encompassing that you would rip your skin apart! This is the road less travelled, a road where no map or GPS is going to guide you, and you walk tentatively in the dark hoping you will find a path out of this dirty jungle. There is no guarantee that you will.

Yet, somebody once told me something that has always stayed with me: if you decide to jump into rough water and find yourself immersed in a murky tide, what would you do? Would you choose to swim alongside the current, or would you force yourself to go against the crashing waves?
