The White House confirms that President Biden spoke by phone today with a U.S. citizen Safiullah Rauf and a green card holder Anees Khalil.
The two were released last week after being “unjustly detained” in Afghanistan.
“The President welcomed Safiullah Rauf and Anees home and praised the efforts of all who worked to secure their release,” said the White House press office.
