President Joe Biden has been briefed by his national security team on Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) military action in Beirut, the White House said Thursday. Biden directed the Pentagon to assess and adjust U.S. force posture in the region to enhance deterrence, ensure force protection, and support U.S. objectives.
The president also instructed his team to ensure U.S. embassies in the region take all necessary protective measures. Biden is expected to continue receiving regular updates on the situation.
