Speaking from the Roosevelt Room at the White House this morning, President Joe Biden warned that Hurricane Milton could be a “devastating” storm, potentially one of the worst to hit Florida in a century. He urged residents under evacuation orders to leave immediately.
“Evacuate now, now, now,” Biden said. “It’s a matter of life and death.”
The president said he spoke with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis yesterday and described the governor as cooperative, adding that he gave him his personal phone number for direct contact.
When asked if Vice President Kamala Harris had been helpful during the response, Biden nodded and said, “Yes.”
Regarding the postponement of his trip to Germany and Angola, Biden said he still plans to visit at a later date and will be speaking with the German chancellor today.
