On Sunday, President Biden spoke on the phone with President Macron, Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, and outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom.
According to the White House, the call focused on Ukraine’s “efforts to defend itself against Russian aggression.”
The situation at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant was also under discussion, “including the need to avoid military operations near the plant.”
The leaders talked about the importance of an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) visit. The conversation then moved on to ongoing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and the broader Middle East region.
