President Biden’s presidency faces heightened scrutiny following a significant gaffe at the NATO summit in Washington, DC, on Thursday. While unveiling the Ukraine Compact, Biden mistakenly introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “President of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin.”
The error comes at a critical time, as Biden has been under pressure to step down since the recent presidential debate with Donald Trump.
“And now I wanna hand it over to the President of Ukraine who has as much courage as he has. Determination, ladies and gentlemen, President Putin,” said Biden in front of the NATO leaders.
Today’s gaffe raises further questions about his ability to rally his party’s support in the face of growing concern for his mental fitness to proceed into the second term.
The President is set to hold a press conference this evening at the NATO Summit, his first since November 2023, adding to the stakes and increasing the risk of things not going according to the plan.
